Jump Jump

Two weeks ago Abby was sick for a full week. It was the week after she had her chicken pox shot and she got a high fever which is a pretty standard side effect. Unfortunately, she also got a runny nose at the same time... which after three days led to an ear infection. I learned after the fluid had reached her ears that I can give her allergy medicine next time she has a runny nose... so hopefully she won't have to suffer through any more ear infections. Thank you Debbie for watching Abby two of those days!! Jason and I really appreciate it!!

Jason, Abby, and I went to the zoo last Saturday because we were all sick of being in the house. It had been about a year since we had gone, and what a difference a year makes. Abby was so excited about seeing the animals - especially the lions. She loves to roar at them. While she was sick, we introduced her to The Lion King movie so she was familiar with some of the zoo animals from that. We plan on going back to the zoo a lot while the weather is nice... it is such a fun and easy outing. I've been really bad about remembering to charge my camera lately, so we don't have any pictures from the zoo... just lovely memories.

That Sunday we went to church with Jason's parents and then spent the afternoon at their house with Mel, Randy, Megan, and Chase. Abby has been jumping a lot lately... it is one of her favorite new things to do. Below is a video of her jumping on the trampoline with Megan watching her.

This weekend we went to Angela and Steven's house on Friday to visit Levi and Dylan. Levi is such a sweetheart! When I held him the first time he was a little angel for me and it made me really want another baby. The next time I held him, I could not make him happy and it reminded me of those days when you had to run through a long list of things that could be wrong until you figured out what your baby needed. Now that Abby can tell us what she wants, it is so easy and I had forgotten the anxiety that I felt when I didn't know what she needed. But I still think it would be sweet for Abby to have a little brother or sister sometime soon. My camera was still on the fritz, so I only got one picture of our time there.

On Saturday we went to my parents house to visit... and borrow some babysitting time. Jason and I went to the Flying Saucer to celebrate my high school friend Kristin's 30th birthday. I'm so glad that I have reconnected with her recently because she is so much fun! We got back early and had a ton of fun hanging out with my parents. The next day Gigi came over to visit as well. It was so good to see her! I finally remembered to charge my camera... so I do have some pictures and videos from this trip.

Potty News

Abby has started letting us know when she has a stinky diaper. She will point to her diaper and say "poo poo" as soon as she is finished. It definitely helps take the guess work out of whether she is dirty or not. She is so cute!

15 Months

Abby went to her 15 month checkup yesterday. Here are her stats:

Height: 31 1/2 inches (75 percentile)
Weight: 19 pounds (5 percentile)
Head Circumference: 18 1/2 inches (75 percentile)

I love how Abby and Hannah play now. Abby throws her ball for her and plays tug-a-war with her.

Abby is also practicing at feeding herself. She is much better with the spoon than she is with the fork... but she is working on it. Here is a video of Abby eating ravioli (more playing with it than eating it):

Finally, here is a cute picture of Abby with her daddy:

Summer Recap - Part 1

I decided to take the summer off from blogging. My main excuse is that since Abby has been walking, I am so tired by the end of the day from chasing after her that I like relaxing in the evenings. Does that sound familiar? Now I'm going to try to be good and get back in the swing of things... since the holiday season is about to be upon us again.

Jason, Abby, and I had a wonderful summer! Abby has been walking well since she was 11 months old and she is learning new words every day.

Summer Highlights:
- We went on Abby's first airplane ride to New Jersey to visit my grandparents
- We went on many beach trips to Matagorda (including for July 4th)
- Abby stayed with her Mimi and Poppa (my parents) while Jason and I went to Hawaii
- Jason's sister Becky had a new baby, Julia. She is precious!!!
- Jason got a promotion at work
- I was moved to another team at work.
- We had lots of fun playing and watching Abby learn.

Abby's milestones:
- Abby started a new class at school (new teachers and kids) last week. It has been difficult for her to adjust (she misses her old friends and teachers), but every day it gets easier to leave her.
- Abby has learned the different parts of her body and can point to them: nose, ears, eyes, mouth, head, hair, hands, feet, and belly button.
- Abby knows many of the animal sounds: Cow, Sheep, Horse, Pig, Duck, Dog, and Cat.
- She knows many people's names and uses them when she sees them: Abby (she usually says this when she looks in the mirror or at a picture), Momma, Daddy, Mimi, Poppa (my dad and Jason's dad), Nanna (Jason's Mom), and Hannah.
- Other words that Abby can say in context: shoes, socks, hat, duck, ball, bubble, wawa (water), cookie, cheese, fish, blue (used for blue berries and the color), night night, bye bye, hi, baby, and up (when she wants to get up from her high chair).
- Abby has started eating with a fork and a spoon. This video was the first time that she ate pudding. Note: It is a long video.

My next task is to go through all of the vacation pictures and other summer pictures and post them on Shutterfly. I will post my favorites on the part 2 of the Summer Recap.
